Letter to Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am happy to welcome your child to my English class as well as share with you some information about the upcoming year. First, let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in Stamford, CT and am an alumni of Stamford High School. It is thrilling for me now to come back to the Stamford school district as a teacher! I am a graduate of Dickinson College where I majored in English with a minor in education. In August 2013 I earned my Masters Degree at the University of Bridgeport. My goal for this year is that both your child and I will grow and learn from our experiences together. I will do everything in my power to help your child succeed in my class.
I would like to share with you my expectations for this year. This class will cover the two fundamental parts of English including literature and writing. We will read at least four core texts as well as plays, poetry, and short stories. Each student is expected to arrive to class on time and is required to bring all necessary materials to class every day. All assignments are to be handed in on time and late work will be graded lower. The students will be doing individual as well as peer group activities and I expect my students to respect and be willing to work with one another. I am extremely excited to work with your child for the next school year. I am hoping to facilitate a positive classroom atmosphere in which the students will feel comfortable and will be interested in our class.
Thank you for spending the time to read this letter. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this class or your child’s performance, feel free to email me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brunner
